EUCHL Opens Applications for League Expansion Ahead of the 2027 Season

Bratislava, Slovakia — The European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) is pleased to announce that it is officially accepting applications from interested parties for league expansion beginning with the 2027 season.

As the EUCHL continues its rapid growth and development across Europe, the league is seeking to add new member programs that align with its mission of combining high-level collegiate hockey, accredited higher education, and a clear pathway to professional and post-graduate opportunities.

The expansion initiative is open to universities, academies, clubs, and groups that demonstrate the infrastructure, financial stability, academic partnerships, and long-term vision required to compete at the EUCHL level.

“Interest in the EUCHL has increased significantly over the past year,” said a league spokesperson. “We believe the time is right to strategically expand the league with organizations that share our commitment to academic excellence, player development, and sustainable growth.”

Expansion Criteria Highlights

Applicants will be evaluated based on several key factors, including:

  • The ability to work with educational institutions in a professional manner

  • Competitive hockey operations experience and/or existing qualified coaching staff

  • Financial sustainability 

  • Commitment to student-athlete welfare and development

The EUCHL’s model continues to attract student-athletes from across Europe and North America, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional NCAA, USports, and ACHA pathways while maintaining a high standard of competition and education.

Application Timeline

  • Application window opens: Immediately

  • Initial review period: Ongoing through 2026

  • Final expansion selections announced: January 2027
