14 DAYS TO PUCK DROP: EUCHL REGULAR SEASON READY TO MAKE HISTORY
The countdown is officially on.
In just 14 days, the puck drops on the European Union College Hockey League regular season.
On Saturday, October 17, four founding EUCHL organizations will take the ice for the league's highly anticipated opening night, launching a new era of university hockey across Central Europe.
The opening-night schedule features two compelling matchups:
BRATISLAVA CAPITALS vs. ŁÓDŹ LEGION
PRAGUE GUARDIANS vs. BRNO LIONS
For months, players have been recruited, rosters assembled, university relationships developed and programs built.
Now, there are only 14 days to go.
The countdown has begun.
THIS IS COLLEGE HOCKEY — EUROPEAN STYLE
The EUCHL was created around a simple concept: give student-athletes the opportunity to earn a university education while competing in organized, competitive hockey and experiencing life in Europe.
The result is a distinctly international league featuring players from different hockey backgrounds and countries, all pursuing the same goal — competing for an EUCHL championship while earning their degrees.
And on October 17, that vision becomes reality.
"We've spent a tremendous amount of time building the foundation of this league. Now we're ready to see the players take the ice and let the hockey speak for itself," said EUCHL President Joseph Kolodziej.
"October 17 isn't just the first day of our regular season. It's the beginning of something that we believe can become a significant part of the European hockey landscape."
MORE THAN A HOCKEY GAME
What makes the EUCHL different isn't simply where the games are played.
It's who is playing them — and why.
EUCHL athletes are university students first and hockey players at the same time, creating an environment where academic achievement, athletic competition and international experience come together.
Players from North America and Europe have joined EUCHL programs seeking an alternative college experience — one that allows them to continue playing hockey while studying and living in Europe.
That international character will be on full display when the puck drops October 17.
"These players have made a commitment to both their education and hockey," Kolodziej said. "Now they get the opportunity to represent their universities, their cities and their teams in meaningful league competition."
14 DAYS. FOUR TEAMS. TWO GAMES.
The EUCHL regular season is no longer an idea on paper.
It is no longer a recruiting pitch.
It is no longer months of preparation.
In 14 days, it's hockey.
The league is inviting hockey fans across Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and throughout Europe to follow the opening weekend and become part of the beginning of the EUCHL story.
